On a hair dryer, what does the ionic off/on switch do?

I always keep mine on, just because..... I really don't know why. I just do. That's why I'm asking this question now. Should it be on, and why?

On a hair dryer, what does the ionic off/on switch do?

i think its to help puffiness. i leave mine always on too.

Leave it on. It produces negative ions which will reduce frizzy, flyaway hair and it breaks the water down into smaller particles that dry faster.
