Both can damage hair pretty badly. Make sure you keep the blow dryer at least 4 inches from your hair. As with the iron, you definitely need a protecting spray and make sure you don't pause while running the straightener down your hair.

Not neccesarily, but remember to use a heating product like tresseme which is about $4 at drugstores. I think it mostly depend on hair textures.

it depends on your hair and the kind of products you use on it blow dryers tend to dry the hair out really bad thats what causes the split ends. if you don't have to use either one then don't. but if you do just make sure you use a good conditioner
